HANA has donated to his listed charity. As Bill W said "he was practical so he'd want that".

If you are a horseplayer consider yourself a part of this donation.

I only knew of Rich Bauer from his posts here on PA.
His posts were passionate, straightforward and unswerving.Bauer was a skilled and crafty horse player and his enthusiasm will be missed.

How sad! I've always thoroughly enjoyed Rich's postings. He was so passionate about horse racing!

So sad to hear of Rich's passing.

I met him many years ago when he was marketing his Six-Shooter computer program in which you'd punch in your selections for each Pick 6 race, assign a rating to each selection and tell the program how much you wanted to spend, then the program would spit out a series of tickets. It predated the DRF's TicketMaker by about 15 years.

It was a brilliant program, but unfortunately there was little market for an expensive program that was of limited use except to big Pick 6 players. He went on to develop Three-Bagger and other programs. He loved working on those programs, solving puzzles, even though he came to realize there wouldn't be much financial reward.

You could trust what Rich told you. No bragging, no hype. He was a straight shooter. He could be a bit cantankerous, but that's only because he cared. And he cared especially about horseplayers.

He will be missed.
