It guess it's more than just that when WoW's win in the Preakness puts the lie to the claim he could not have finished better than 8th in the Derby if not fouled by MS. I think the author of the article is setting up a straw man by saying those that agree with the DQ are claiming that WoW would have won the Derby. Not so. Just that he was prevented from a chance at a better placing, as per the rules.

Actually, Tom's response is even better.

I don't know about anyone else, but I got at least half a dozen races I am more pissed of about than the Derby. In today's races alone!

p.s. If you watch the opening scene, PA (Dean Wormer) explains to CJ(Greg Marmalard) how Dbl Secret Probation works.
