Reading all the "news" about this war, one comes away thinking that's all they've done, almost everywhere.

It's pretty simple

Totally agree.
Mike thinks Putin fed his VDV, some of the limited professional soldiers he has, into a woodchipper around Kyiv even though he never really planned on taking it.
What do you think?

Airborne units aren't forced units.
They're specialist professional troops.
Putin used them in multiple airborne assaults on a city he wasn't interested in taking.
That's your take.

As many as necessary.
It's less work than what you're doing.

Sorry, I thought this was a good time to check back on your governor's botched attempt to make herself look like a victim w/ the help of the fbi.
Remembering our back n forth on the hoax....Laughing at you. Not with ya.

Yes because you keep regurgitating nonsense that doesn't pass simple common sense.
I don't know what color it is but you're certainly pilled.

Why are you constantly trying to label me as something? The funny part is, you really can't peg me as anything...I'm amorphous.
Which is good. One shouldn't be rigid and absolute in one's thinking.
Serious question time.
Barring nukes, is it your opinion Russia has brought the full force of the Russian Army to bear on Ukraine? Or do you think they have been holding back?
They have no ability to dominate the airspace above Ukraine? They have no ability to bomb cities into oblivion using conventional weapons? They have no artillery that can shell an area into submission? No "shock and awe" equivalent?
What's been the greatest obstacle here? Terrain? Logistics? Underestimating the strength of Ukraine forces?
Did they prepare for some other war, other than the one they would be fighting in Ukraine?
Or was "Russia #2" just a myth all along?

First... I never labeled you. I said you're wrong. Also being amorphous it just a cop out to saying contradictory things.
Second, no I don't think Russia is holding back. Why would they? According to Shoigu in August they have approximately 170 BTGs with 120ish committed to action in the Ukraine. Those are their professional troops, not conscripts, so by Western intelligence assessments and their own Defense Minister's pre-war statements they aren't holding back.
Apparently not. It's not just Ukraine in the air though. They're getting real-time help from NATO and US E3's, E8's and Globalhawks.
They do and have. Mariupol has been hammered hard.
Again Mariupol. City still likely falls and in terms of clearing a decent size city it taking a few weeks is quite fast.
I was pretty impressed by the MLRS bombardment on the opening day.
Mostly logistics and morale and the disparity between the two. It's obvious they were hoping for a quick fight.
Alright going hunting I'll respond to more later.

Okay back and haven't updated yet.
Anyway...
Russia is one of the world's largest exporters and by most accounts they make decent stuff.
If an American has been wounded or killed in action by a piece of military hardware in the past 50 years there's a 90% chance it's a Russo/Soviet product.
Fact is you never know how a organization is going to perform until it actually performs. We haven't seen Russia attempt anything like this since '45... and it shows. Everyone assumes China may take Taiwan by force. Laughable... their last conflict they got stalemated by Vietnam's B-team. We know what the US is capable of as we've seen it recently but even then all US commanders are terrified of invading Iran proper.
We're also seeing that Russia, even though it makes good kit, doesn't always equip it itself.
Finally, this conflict is highlighting the differences between a 100% volunteer professional force and one that isn't. Units in the Russian military don't enjoy the autonomy of their American counterparts. There isn't a developed NCO structure filtering down to individual squads and units.
