Not impressed with anyone after they crossed the wire...No Kentucky Derby winner here.

waiting on the payouts before I quibble, but Greatest Honour ran 'fine'. Crappy 1st turn (don't toss Papetu and Spielberg, or even Collaborate completely from other stakes tries, either).
Greatest Honour also ate a ton of dirt, and never got into 'the zone' with the ride/flow...
But, Once Again... those gosh darn Speed Figure guys are the ones cashing or passing.
Solid win for Known Agenda. Good race.

Agreed, I was hoping Greatest Honour would win for he was going to be an easy toss in the Derby. Oh well, you can't get everything you want in life.

Pletcher really has Known Agenda in a good place these days.
This horse is clicking along right when he should be.
I make him the best 3yo going right now.
Greatest Honour didn't fire one off today, but that doesn't bother me.......he wants to be outside with clear sailing........he'll run better at Churchill.
I can see both Known Agenda/Greatest Honour running big in the Derby.

I think it's quite possible Beyer is going to revisit the 82 figure he gave Known Agenda for his big allowance win. If you look at the horses in the race, everyone ran slower in that race than they had previously except Known Agenda. So they had either all gone off form or Known Agenda had improved sharply in that race. My "guess" is that he wasn't sure what to do with it (break it out or not) and may change it in light of the big race from Known Agenda yesterday (94), though he might wait to see one more horse run out of the race.

I don't have any hard stats on it (I should start compiling them), but over the years I've seen a LOT of high quality horses ship into Florida from NY and CA for a single race and throw in complete duds in their first start. Then if they shipped back out they ran right back to form. I'm not sure what it is, but it's kind of like some horses need to get acclimated to Florida. On the flip side shipping from Florida to NY at this time of year is often a plus. While I'm not a huge Spielberg fan, I think he'll come back with a better effort next time back in CA.

I don’t think it’s so much Fla. as it is Tampa and that surface. Many horses go there and the race is a toss as far as form goes. Plus, Pletcher gets his horses running best at GP. That horse did an abrupt about face in the Allowance blow out and people were betting him yesterday accordingly. And he stepped forward big time. This horse threw a clinker but bounced back hard...... dangerous type. I wouldn’t count the first few out. Seeing that this race has been a big “tell” in recent years now. After SA, this race has been a pretty big Triple Crown influencer.

Lean on me and a switch . . .
Nice one.
Soup and Sandwich was dead game and Into Mischief over Tapit is an interesting breeding . . . If Ortiz doesn't lean on Johnny coming out of the turn and SAS switches leads, I think SAS wins that one.

The winner was one of the FEW that had already competed at 9 furlongs
