The travesty McConnell committed to the judicial nomination process is finally being realized today, and he should be held accountable. Uh

Trump says he is going to nominate a woman this week.

I need to tell everyone that she took advantage of me at a party in college.

Whoever she turns out to be.....

to clarify, RBG was interpreting the constitution and she was correct.
if a case came before her, this would be her position.

she, like all of us have personal positions on matters.
and given the circumstances I align with her personal position.

I wish, 4 years ago, the senate agreed with the constitutional offerings of you and RBG.
Her personal opinion is as meaningless as yours and mine. Who cares what she thinks beyond her professional opinion. Neither of us believes she actually made a deathbed statement about her replacement. LOL if you actually believe it happened. I've been in those rooms in the final days. It's not what people talk about, ESPECIALLY to grandchildren. I don't care if the grandchild is 35. No one is having that conversation on their deathbed. Use your brain.

No, they didn't changed their tune. They finally listened to Chuck Schumer, who said in 2016 that the President should nominate and the Senate take up SCOTUS nominations in an election year. All hail Chuck Schumer!

And the kicker....

Trump Tower is actually 10 floors shorter than Donald Trump says it is
https://www.businessinsider.com/trum...p-says-2016-10

You seem to go over the top over small, insignificant matters.

What about President Trump promising to negotiate new trade deals, deals more fairer and reciprocal? How about his promise to lower taxes? Or his promise to name conservative judges? All Trump promises kept and accomplished. All of them important, to all Americans, even radicals and the Democrats.

What promises did the Democrats ever keep, besides the promise to raise taxes, to gut the military, to sell out the American blue collar labor force, to make deals with China, which only brought death and destruction to millions thanks to the importation from there of fentanyl and the covid virus?

The old deals with China also made Wall Street and the corrupt Biden family very, very rich. Whether Trump's dad left him $400 million, $40 million, $4 million or 4 cents, it doesn't mean a single thing. But, if you wish to go crazy over this meaningless matter, don't let me stop you. Sorry, but no one cares about this type of argument.

I didn't miss your point. RBG sides professionally with Trump and McConnell on the matter. Her own words prove it. That's the point. Everything else you're writing is drivel after that.

My advice to you is to get ahead of the curve and get used to a conservative majority on the Scotus for another 20-30 years. And if Trump gets re-elected, it may become a supermajority on the SCOTUS, not to mention all the additional federal judges he will appoint. It must suck being you.

The real travesty is the threat to stack the court when/if Democrats control the Senate with a Democrat president. FDR tried this for the same reasons Democrats wish to so now. To circumvent the majority of Americans' wishes to force an out of the mainstream legislative agenda.

The Democrats have made this same threat for many years long before President Trump even became a candidate and a much longer time before RBG was even on the Supreme Court much less her passing away.

Possible solution, one I'd love to see

Control the USSC in the short term to prevent DNC from stealing the election, and protects vulnerable red senators. Win the election, selection becomes permanent

In the current case, President Trump could break the impasse over the Court by appointing Federal Circuit Court Judge Amy Coney Barrett (or some other qualified person) to the Court via a recess appointment to last until January of next year. He could say, in taking such a step, that his intention will be to make that appointment permanent in 2021 should he win re-election in November. That would turn the appointment into an issue that might work to his advantage in the campaign, while avoiding a nomination that would divide the Senate and his party. The recess appointment would be temporary, lasting just a few months, and would still allow the next president to fill the vacancy on a permanent basis in January. It would also fill a vacancy on the Court, giving it a full complement of nine members when it starts its next session in a few weeks.

Senator McConnell could assist in such a step by declaring the Senate to be in recess for a period in September or October, thus allowing the President an opening for a recess appointment. That would not be difficult to do, since the Senate is likely to be in recess anyway in October to permit members to campaign for re-election.

There are risks to such a move, but there are risks both in trying to fill the vacancy or in leaving it open for the time being. It would provide an opening for new attacks on President Trump, but those attacks might drive other issues off the national agenda for a time while permitting the President to maneuver the issue in his favor. Assessing the risks, a recess appointment looks to be a reasonable way for the President to fill the vacancy in the immediate term while still allowing the next president to fill it on a permanent basis.

Why should Trump give any quarter to the sworn enemies of the People of the U.S. and our Constitution? Or for that matter why should Trump ignore strong precedent?
