50 years of handicapping - Jockey Loyalty

I can never understand how a jockey can ride for a
trainer for a long time and then get dumped.
Tim Thornton has ridden well for Karl Broberg
for years. Out of the blue he is replaced. Bummer.

Relationships ebb and flow and many times cease. Who really knows. Many times they have nothing to do with the business. Case in point, I was very familiar with a certain trainer. I would say more business friends than friendly. I had suggested a few claims with some success. As well as suggesting some placement of a few of his runners. He had a go to rider for years. All of a sudden it was done. I inquired, said rider had an ongoing affair with the trainers wife. Trainer found out, I was able to persuade him from turning the rider into a gelding. A continuation of this brutally long and boring tale. Trainer is now out of the business and still married. Names are clearly not required.
