I don't think so - Larry Costello was the only one I ever saw shoot that
Rick Barry shot free throws underhand which is also old style and he was great at it
Jerry West was truly amazing
who would ever imagine that a country boy from Cabin Creek, West Virginia could use up all those city boys - make them look like they weren't in his league

many people are not aware that the Globetrotters played the Minneapolis Lakers in 1948 and beat them - the NBA, of course, at that time had no black players - zero
the Lakers had the NBA's best player - 6'10" George Mikan
there was a rematch in 1949 and the Trotters beat the Lakers again
the Trotters - no doubt about it - those dudes could play - seriously

I wonder what player had the best combined High School and College team winning percentage in basketball? I was a UCLA fan during their Alcindor and Walton days when they rarely lost. The Walton teams were a little better and part of that 88 in a row. Before I am accused of being a front runner, I lived in SoCal, was just a kid and also a California Angels fan and they sucked back then.

I think your answer has to be one of those UCLA guys that ran up huge streaks; and if Lew did 71 in high school, too, that seems too tough to beat.
But the aforementioned Jerry Lucas might be right behind: 76 straight in h.s., followed by three trips to the NCAA finals. Here's his Wiki link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Lucas#High_school He wasn't eligible as a freshman, so there's a gap in his stats. But also had a winning run in the '60 Olympics.

when the talking heads talked about Bill Russell they always talked about all of his Championships and sometimes mention the year he and his Celts lost to Wilt's 6ers
I've never ever heard them talk about the other year Russ and his Celts lost - to the '58 St. Louis Hawks, and the truly great yet all but completely forgotten Bob Pettit
in the 6th and final game of the series Pettit destroyed the Celts with 50 points and 25 rebounds
old school Pettit was as tough as nails - he played part of the '57 season with a fractured wrist and a cast on his left arm
enjoy watching him use up Bill Russell - Bob Cousy was on that Celts team too

Jerry Lucas shot an incredible .624 from the field thru his 3 year college career - amazing
that's a higher % than Wilt who probably shot 90% dunks and finger rolls
for comparison purposes - in college - West shot .508 and Oscar .535
there is no doubt in my mind that many players, including pros, could not shoot .624 from the field even if they're in a gym shooting around by themselves

Every time I watch an NBC broadcast of horse racing, I end up missing the days of my early childhood when Jim McKay, Al Michaels, and Dave Johnson showed us "the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" on ABC's Wide World of Sports.

Our local city h.s. basketball team actually scheduled two(?) games vs. Dematha many years ago. Some locals actually thought they had a shot against them. I've often thought that Adrian Dantley was the best h.s. player I've seen, but so many future pro's looked like that when still in high school.
