PLATINUM Pace Shape

.
I've mentioned this previously--maybe a couple years ago. First off take a look at the 2nd race at Parx shown below:

Anything stand out? One of the 1st things I look at--is the column with the Quirin Ratings...I count up the speed pts and divide by entries. Also...a la Randy Giles, notice the horses with 5 or more speed points.

With very little practice-- races such as this one will stand out as very slow Pace Shapes. This one has a total of 19 speed points divided by 8 entries--for a total avg of appx 2.3. Very low, especially for a sprint. I look for 3 or less for a slow race shape--or 5 or more for a fast race shape.

This is certainly not the ONLY WAY to do this...but as Mr. Money posted above---I like to keep it simple. You still have to check your selection with basic handicapping--and get a good price.

I showed this particular race because it was so blatant and obvious. You don't have to have the Platinum Program to get the Race Shape...but with the proprietary Speed Rankings it makes it that much easier.

For a lightening fast early shape (over 5 pt. avg)...use the opposite and look for an entry with a very fast late ranking. Be patient, keep records and you should be able to cash in on this method.

Also, check out Gile's "EXTREME PACE" book. About $20 on Amazon.

Best,

-NCG

Tampa 2-12 pick-3's

For the heck of it--gonna try the consensus pick 3's for a dollar each way.

3x3x3 Bets: 27 Total: $27 each

-all 3 = $81 total

I have to bet at 3:00AM (being in Cali) If I wait til morning for the scratches I may sleep through part of the card since they start early west coast time.

Tried Parx despite sloppy track came up with 6 plays - hit 3 races

RACE $3.80

RACE $10.60

RACE $5.80

Nice method for predicting a pace to be fast or slow then trying to get the best horse suited for the prediction

You might want to explain that a little better.

Greg - what about turf races - in other words if this example was on the turf you would go by the sblast/e-power rating ?? And fast pace turf races apply the highest lp pace rating ? That is what I would do but perhaps turf is different .

green here it is the pick three with key eg. leg1 123 leg2 123 leg 3 123 =27 dollars right . and you win if any of your 3 picks win in all 3 legs . if you play it with a key in each race you still have the same coverage but can hit it 3 times eg leg 1 1 keyed leg2 123 leg3 123 = 9 dollars now key leg 2 123 with 1 with 123 = 9 dollars leg3 123with 123with 1 another 9 bucks right now you can hit the bet 3 times if your 3 keys win and you have the same coverage as the baseball bet for 27 bucks i dont think i can explain it any better . just rember its not who you bet its how you bet

True, Sharkey.... the flip side of that wager is that if three “B” horses win, you have nothing more than three losing $9 tickets as opposed to a winning $27 ticket with the 3 x 3 x 3 method.

I generally pass turf races--speed isn't as pronounced on the grass, as it is on dirt.
There is a Turf Rating included with PLATINUM. I'll use as contenders the top 4 turf rated-provided most entries have plenty of turf experience.

Greg

I like using turf blast and late power in turf races, especially routes.

GGX 2/13

Wonder what Kent D is doing here? He's been riding at the 'Gate for awhile--maybe he just showed up early, since he's got a rather dubious mount in Saturday's El Camino Real-

AMERICAN FARMER.

A few of the entries in that race couldn't even win allowance prep races. INDIAN PEAK appears to be the star of that field, but really who cares?

GGF today:

2ND ZEDEKIAH 7-2

4TH SMILING ANN 5-2

6TH YANGTZE RIVER 5-1

7TH OWNER'S PRESTIGE 12-1

Good Luck,
