Remember when certain posters advocated that the Norcal and Socal thoroughbred meets needed to merge to survive? Well I guess they no longer have to worry about that anymore. Guessing the land which the race track occupies will fetch a pretty penny. Also have you noticed that the track owners have turned out to be the undertakers for many of these race tracks.

If you are a NoCal Fair Circuit fan, you had better get your final fill of visits this summer. How could those meets reconvene?

Losing both NoCal and Chicago in the same year is just terrible news for the sport.

When you wonder why the foal crop is decreasing so radically, remember the loss of these secondary ovals.

also the Private Equity vultures are poised to do much more of this - what is with all of these Penn National REIT manuevers if not to capitalize on the land value (and perhaps otherwise prop up the value of real estate portfolios with commercial property values being very low due to COVID and few going back to work full time)

mind you, Golden Gate had to be least bettable track in history, sorry for those involved, but the racing was abysmal aside from the turf course and will not be missed

Closing down the race tracks hasn't helped the sport at all...
All it does its make the sport more invisible to the general public.
I guess the track owner getting a large payout for their land to be turned into commercial/residential is a win for them.

I believe only Santa Rosa has a turf track.
It would be pretty hard to have a Norcal circuit consisting of only fair tracks.
