Gutierrez, a jockey I normally like, on Mopotism, a live longshot in the Starlet on Saturday at Los Al.

This horse was totally on the bit and full of run, and was in good position with the leaders around the far turn. But Mario gave up position, took back, and then managed to get blocked and shuffled back all the way from the 5/16th pole to the 1/16th pole, with Mario steadying and checking several times, until he finally wrestled the horse free and it was too late to catch the winner, but she made up a couple of lengths in the last 1/16th to snag the show.

She's a really good filly. She had trouble in a maiden race in November and ran very well making two moves.

if you do watch that replay, you'll get to enjoy Desormeaux on the front doing his best impersonation of the Ortiz brothers as he tries to take the inside three paths away from anyone (Mopotism) who dares to come up the rail.

My impression watching live was it was the horse acting goofy more than Kent, but I'll have to watch again to be sure.

I have to laugh at people who fawn over Paco Lopez. Watch his hands in the stretch of the 7th today at Gulfstream.

I've seen 10 pound bugs that can hold a mount together better

Bad ride of the day belonged to Joe Bravo at Gulfstream Park's race#4 on Old Sport.......Simply horrendous, no wonder he's 0 for 30 at the meet so far.

Old sport really could have won that race by 5 lengths. Just a awful ride.

Angel Cordero would have a tough time keeping that horse in the lead.
