Kitten's Joy has passed

The 21 year old sire of champions passed away today at 21 years old.

Amazing horse.

It's rare that one horse can make an owner's name. Kitten's Joy, as a racehorse and sire, did with the Ramseys. What a wonderful representative of our sport. RIP.

That horse helped bring turf racing in the US back to where it is now. I don’t know if he’s in the Hall of Fame, but if not, he should be. He had two great careers.

Ha. An amazing horse and even greater stallion.

Forever inked in racing history. We all know when we see a Kitten's Joy horse on turf, we have some due respect.

Great turf sire for sure

I was on a visit to Chicago in 2005 where I saw him lose the million to Powers court. And earlier on the card Megahertz lose to Angora. Perhaps it was the yielding course that gave the euros the edge that day. Anyway, I went with my aunt and uncle who both have since passed.

It was quite a day with a huge crowd!

One might say that it was El Prado who put turf racing back on the map.

In that one 2001 crop, El Prado sired Kitten's Joy, Artie Schiller, and the superior if inconsistent Timo to dominate the turf division.

Singlehandedly sired the best NA turf division since Lure, Paradise Creek, Star of Cozzene in the early '90s. Actually Riverman and his son Irish River were responsible for many a turf star both in NA and Europe. Danzig was no slouch either when it came to siring turf horses (in addition to his prowess on dirt).
