One of the greats!
CJ’s Dad introduced me to him in a restaurant. He approached us and said hello to Dennis…….it was a real highlight

Big stage player, his fielding in the 1970 series was something to marvel at!

That was a pisser for a Reds fan. Boog Powell had a great series too……
4 games to one was disappointing

It seemed every game he would turn what would have been a double down the 3rd base line into an out, to me stealing a hit from an opponent is just as good as getting one yourself. The best fielding 3rd baseman I ever saw.

I got to see him play a few times in the last few years of his career. He was past his prime but still "star" of the team even if not the best player. He was also an incredibly nice person that always had time for a fan.
One of my best memories as a kid was going to Brooks Robinson day in 1977 with my Dad and my brother. It was really hot (at least as this then 10 year old remembers) but nobody seemed to care. I still have the poster they gave out that day.
RIP Legend.

Just think if you added every hit and run he stole from opponents to his batting statistics, he would make Babe Ruth look like a weak hitter.

I heard on radio today that he made the first version of that shortened brim batting helmet himself by taking a hacksaw to it in the clubhouse one day and then the company manufactured them special for him thereafter

That 1970 Orioles team was a determined bunch after being stunningly upset by the Mets in 1969. The ‘70 O’s closed out the season with a 10-game win streak, then swept the Twins in the ALCS 3 games to none, then took the WS from the mighty Big Red Machine in 5 games, going 17-1 to polish off their championship run. Quite impressive!

You can see it here, my favorite baseball card of all time. I'd buy this one but I have several already.
