RunHappy

What is the deal with all the Runhappy commercials & sponsorship on TVG?

I realize this horse won the BC Sprint & there is an interesting back story with the whole Maria Borell fiasco. (hope she rots in jail)

Just not sure what the owners are hoping to accomplish?

They actually asked Mac this on Tvg at the Preakness or Derby. His answer was to essentially build brand awareness of the horse. He basically said he thinks when he retires he'll be a top sire and the ads are a way of building awareness of the horse's accomplishments.

Basically he's promoting a stallion prior to him going to the shed.

I was thinking the same thing. I haven't watched on tvg, but they advertise Runhappy every day in the Indian Charlie

What's wrong with promoting such a good horse? He is tons the best sprinter in the country and Eclipse Award winner and was one of the finalists for HOTY along with American Pharoah.

Speaking of Runhappy....what's the plan with him? No activity at all in 2016. Have I missed anything?

Didn't say there was anything wrong with it... just wanted to know their intentions.

A little marketing before a stud career makes sense.

Think he's had a nagging foot issue most of the year. No works in a long time. Too bad as they had a sportingly ambitious schedule mapped out this year, hopefully he can get himself together before Pegasus cup, but who knows. Maybe something direct from the horse's mouth sometime would be nice to see - https://twitter.com/runhappyhorse

Ha, I even went to his Facebook page ( ) looking for info. All I got was pics of him getting a massage and rolling around in his stall....

I get the promotion but why promote a horse that isn't racing at all?

Maybe just to keep him in peoples minds- both Eclipse voters and future breeders.
In any case I'm eagerly awaiting his return. The horse that survived Borel.

"Out" in :59?!? That's one hell of a gallop. I'm not sure why the trainer would have a horse work that fast off this long layoff.

They could of been working this horse on the farm without any official works. He could of had 4-5 works before this one. No way this was his first work.
