Whenever you Google for the solution for a computer problem make sure you are on a trusted site. Like in the above case many scammers can take the Adblock software and add malware to it and you could end up with major trouble. As an example just Google "Download Firefox" and hoards of download opportunities pop up that aren't from Mozilla.

Why would you want to block ads here on PA? It's the only way the site pays for itself. They aren't intrusive (no pop ups), and they don't slow the loading of pages (ads are set to load asynchronously, meaning page content loads first and/or isn't impacted by the length of time it might take to load a particular ad).

There's really no reason to block ads here on PA, and if you use ad blocking software, I would request that you instruct the software to allow ads to load on PA.

I wasn't referring to pa-was just saying no matter what I'm on msn or golf channel-the website I just visited looking at golf clubs etc appears-likes following me around

If I browse watches on Amazon, I start getting watch ads here on PA and elsewhere...for instance...

It's how Google operates...they can read your browser's history and determine which ads to serve you based on said history...that's why stuff like that happens.

That's why Google is the most powerful company in the universe...

i like adds, sometimes they remind me that i need to buy something. they occasionally give you good idea's and open you up to things you don't know about.

Computers and their use is entirely personal preferences.
What one user finds acceptable (and readily tolerates) might be construed as a gross invasion of privacy by another user.
Still others determine a medium.

The key is to determine how to delete all the tracking files and when to do so (before and after visiting some sites).

CCCleaner is a good tool for those not aware how to do so manually.

Yup...cookies that track your browsing habits (ie history)....or what you type into google search...(ie search history).

I stated it incorrectly. But essentially, it's kinda the same thing.

Clearing the cache in Firefox has stopped adds from following me around. I get followed by raw materials I price when bidding jobs. I find it annoying especially since a place I buy those items from bombs me with junk e-mails. I cannot unsubscribe because they send discount codes by e-mail.
