Was the proxy who put in the bets for Kinchen a NHC Qualifed player?....Was this person disqualified as well?

Pretty sure that will come out. I don't know for sure but some people have told me that it's a well known person. NTRA has to get all the details out.

Racing seems to love drama.
I'm not a tournament player and don't know Jonathon personally, but this seems to be making a mountain out of a molehill. He got DQ'd, said he didn't know that rule, and accepted the DQ.
It's not like there was some huge hidden advantage to doing what he did that might require a suspension.
Being a semi anonymous horseplayer playing for cash, not making public picks, and not in the public eye seems to have even more advantages than I suspected.

Nonsense, he knew the rule....everyone does.
If I'm at GP, in the paddock area, getting an in-person look at the horses, or maybe getting info from a trainer or connections if a horse might be cranked up, maybe that IS an advantage, when it might be the deciding factor in a tourney that's paying $725,000 for first.....But, maybe not.

Exactly, RR.

Maybe inside information isn't all it's cracked up to be...granted per NHC rules he could not use his own horses in NHC contest races, a trainer like him knows virtually every horse on the circuits he runs at and there is no prohibition on getting information "from the trenches".

Like I said, I'm not a tournament player, but if you are allowed to use your phone or computer while playing in the tournament you could get that same information with a phone call, email, or live feed to your buddies in the paddock if you thought it was an edge.
He broke the rule, got DQ'd, and accepted it. What exactly do people want?
Maybe the KHRC should take a look at this and hopefully we'll get a decision just in time for next year's tournament.

I don't recall seeing Jonathon Kinchen's name up near the top of any leaderboards on any of the three days, so if he wasn't in the money it's not much of a controversy. The NHC site has his entries zeroed out now.
Reminds me of the "any publicity is good publicity" old saying.
So is Kinchen really being penalized?

Your not allowed to get any knowledge from connections you may know within the industry in these tourneys? How do they police that over the days and say weeks leading up to it?
