Oaklawn has had races for 3&up since the beginning of the meet (Jan 24th). Field size obviously not a concern here.

Doesn't matter, it is what it is. It just seemed early to me for some reason.
Actually the Santa Anita Handicap has been 4 and up for decades.

It was 3 and up originally, and incredibly, a 3 year old won it carrying 100 pounds to the runner up's 130 back in 1938.

Condition book says Friday 3/6 card was to be drawn yesterday Sunday 3/1. Still no entries on Equibase however. Curious.

SANTA ANITA CANCELS RACING SCHEDULED FOR THIS FRIDAY
March 9, 2020

Due to the forecasted heavy rain in Southern California, Santa Anita has cancelled racing scheduled for this Friday out of an abundance of caution. Racing for this weekend will be evaluated later this week and will be dependent on the forecast.
