My aunt who lives in Mexico and driving to San Diego got sent to secondary inspection and had the inside of her SUV dismantled. She was another victim of a drug dog. Her crime was having art supplies, the paint must have given off a scent that the drug dog alerted on.
Not sure about now, but back then 30 years ago the border patrol was known to not pay well, and attracted the bottom of the barrel.

Don't be so harsh on them, Inner Dirt. I doubt that they were "the bottom of the barrel" back then. It's just that their hands weren't tied like they are today. So, a few mistakes, no big deal; they were allowed to do their job, and we, the American people, benefited, for the most part. In comparison, just look at what we have now, and it's certainly not due to incompetency.

I lived in Mexico for 15 years and would cross the border regularly. Never had a problem. Was sent to secondary a few times but never under suspicion. Border agents were always professional, courteous and respectful. Of course, I never gave them the opportunity to behave otherwise.

Same thing for booze. I believe they only allowed two bottles.

Wow. Not only that, but if you get a Part D drugs plan, it's an additional $32.10 (+ plan premium) every month. This is if you reported $228,000 to $284,000 income in 2021.
Now I know why Medicare can afford to give away some supplement advantage plans at $0 premium.
