Highest $2 payout

the $485 thread got me to thinking. I had horses involved in two extremely high $2 payouts and it got me wondering what kind of crazy payouts you've seen for $2. I had a horse pay $199 to place once. I also had one win the second half of a daily double that paid out something like $1850 on a $2 ticket.

I can't help you with the high payout but I've seen no body bet the winner in both foreign simulcast and small/fair harness racing.

Not everybody knows this but in most jurisdictions if there are no winning bets in a win pool the highest finishing horse with win money bet on it cashes the win pool

I really havent see much but then again i dont play everyday so i am sure i miss some. When I see a horse pay over $100 im shocked, esp with the field sizes we have these days.

Harrah's Philadelphia(harness) back in 2007. $666.20 to win. Horse payed nothing to place. I remember watching online when it happened and it seemed like an eternity for the prices to get posted.

For a $2 win bet, Wishing Ring paid $1,185 in 1912.

That's pretty good considering the average annual salary back then was around $750.

The highest I ever had was a horse at AK-SAR-Ben called Quite a little Bit.
He paid somewhere in the 360 to win and 180 to place don't remember show cause I only bet him to win and place. I remember it like it was yesterday but it was back in the mid 70's. The funny part was I picked him off the form and my buddies thought I was an idiot. This idiot was cashing at the window while they twiddled their thumbs.

My apologies for those who have already seen what I am about to post, but I was the beneficiary of such a case. It was at Evergreen Park (Grande Prairie, AB, Canada) about 10 years ago. In the opening race one night I bet $2 to win on #1. He finished 4th, but because there were no win wagers on the first three finishers, I received a "Win" payout of $17.20!!

For me, probably a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence.

While not the highest ever, my one database shows the following to be the highest Thoroughbred Win payout since the beginning of 2012:

12/28/2015, Mahoning Valley race 7 --> R B Wild Promise
$2 WPS was $415.20 , $104.20, $34.00

I read this somewhere that 7/19/96 at Blue Ribbon Downs a horse paid $841.2 to win 0 to place and $16.00 to show.

No one bet it to place so the 2nd place horse scooped the pool.

I was at the track that day. The winner had $2 bet to win on it.
