Slot holder implies:
a. 12 commitments after weekend
b. it is a match race unless one-&-or other doesn't bring "A game"
https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-rac...rld-cup-remain
c. (me): doesn't (a) imply non-US entry(ies) possible??!!
ARE THERE ANY NON-US RUNNERS THAT WOULD MAKE IT A 3-OR-MORE-WAY MATCH???

My question is this. All the stalls were pursed. But aside from Chrome, Arrogate, Shaman Ghost, Keen Ice and the South American bought by MadMac who are these people going to put in the gate.
Surely since they bought it they'll use it. But we're under 30 days out and we have about five starters. Is someone going to claim something for it?
How do they fill out the gate?

I heard War Story
as long as a Arrogate, Chrome show up , how much is 3rd?
I thought Chrome was better than Arrogate because of age, experience
well no more, Arrogate will blow Chromes's doors off no joke.
Arrogate ran the way Mike wanted him to run.
I hope it's not Chromes' last , like to see another Dubai. then he can retire.
fun Horse to watch.
Arrogate is a faster American Pharoah

It's CC's last race, mares are being booked.
Arrogate didn't blow CC's doors off in the BC, so why would you expect him to here?

What?
In any event, I appreciate the link else I wouldn't know it's the second largest statue in the US, second only to the Statue of Liberty.

I believe Midnight Storm will be in the Pegasus and that'll make this race very interesting. Trainer said before the S. Pasqual the race was in his radar.

Who is the horse in the world that isn't talked about much but would give this race a shake? I see horse racing everywhere. From South Africa to Australia to South America, to Japan and Hong Kong. Surely there are some top local horses that could step up with these?

Stakeholders who own a spot, but not a horse looks like it might actually depresses the overall quality of the field. Both in relation to US runners and international horses.
The expected presence of Arrogate and California Chrome means the rest of the field are running for third, and its Million Dollar prize, anyone who has purchased a spot will be looking to break to get a fair portion of that to try and get as close to square as possible. The owner of a horse is then almost wasting a run trying to compete, when there would be much easier pickings available elsewhere.
For international runners the cost of running is even greater, there is quarantine (the length of which is why no South African horse would be available) and as most are turf horses there chances of being competitive are even less; it is also off season in Europe and Australia with plenty of easier pickings coming up.
That really only leaves Hong Kong (where dirt racing is an after thought and without any major prizmeoney races on that surface) and Japan (where the local prize money is more than good enough for any horse over there).
I thought the potential to try and make a turf runner a dirt performed stallion may have tempted Coolmore to try with one of their horses, and owning a spot, but they sold onto Arrogate instead.
The economics just don't make great sense for horse owners when the two top horses tower over everyone else as they do this year.

I'm making my biggest bet of 2017 on chrome to beat arrogate assuming arrogate is the favorite. Easy money.

This seems like an awfully senseless stance.
But then again, 2017 just started....so $1 might be your biggest bet of 2017 for all we know.
Putting that aside, however, you're taking your biggest stance against a horse who just beat your pick and you're likely to get back what? Not even $5 if you're right? Yeah...way to go crazy...
