Tough to swallow
McCraken as the favorite on Saturday.
- missed time
- potentially won't get any kind of pace to run at
- his top is slower than 3 others in here
- Wilkes cannot afford to let him peak this time out... I'm sure he would rather see a pair of his last than a new top/win
If he runs his race, I don't see how Tapwrit gets beat. He is one that I absolutely see running a new top. Could be pacesetter as well
I'll probably use PJ as well if the price is right. I'll pay to see if he can get the distance.
All this being said, I could absolutely see making McCraken my key on derby day if he runs 2nd-3rd (paired) here and ends up drifting to 15+ to 1.
If he somehow pairs and wins Saturday, he'll be tough to take at a short price 4 weeks from now.
