the aptly named Tequila Sunday
belmont: 06/23/18 RACE 5 7FURLONGS
all in bet on this Filly, trained by Donk, jock is Manny Franco.
Filly beats the gate, wins for fun, and as i figured, Stewards inquiry immediately goes up.
and TS is declared a non starter.
so, I lose a great bet, stewards are correct, no issue with the stewards call.
That said, Manny knows this game, why waste the race, especially at this distance.
this was a 7fg race, did he really believe the stewards would blink?
Perhaps Donk now looks for an 8fg race?
really don't like Tequilla, may take a "shot" t'm'w

I own a piece of that horse. It's was painful to get taken down like that given we've been hoping to get her a race at 7F on a fast track (she hates off tracks), finally got one, she won, and we lost the purse. However, I have no problem with the ride or stewards decision. She beat the gate by a split second. I doubt Manny was sure one way or the other what was going to happen. He rode her perfectly and geared her down a bit late when she had the race won. The bad news is that she was taken down. The good news is that she ran well. If she can hold that form, she'll win again at that level.

its hard to win, then get DQ'ed-thats tough. Good luck next time. I have a 2y/o filly supposed to debut a week ago. Gets sick a few days before the race and scratches. At least yours got to the gate, I can't get mine there

It's a tough game, but when one of your horses wins it's quite the rush.
Good luck.

We are debating the level to run her next. We briefly thought about wheeling her back for that mdn race on Friday. She probably would have won, but we defer to the trainer on coming back quick like that.
