The whole point of it was for Dan to take something totally out of context and present a half story trying use Memorial day for a political point.

Of course it was. The tweet was written by HIM, the prepared remarks he read at Arlington were not. Even on such an occasion as Memorial Day, he's completely unable to contain his clownish narcissism.

Even if Obama wrote it himself he probably wrote 50 different versions read them over and over again and used the one he felt sounded best. Everything that came out of his mouth while he was president sounded rehearsed. Trump pretty much just blurts stuff out so you can figure those were his exact current thoughts. I personally always preferred the latter style.
