Solo: A Star Wars Story disappoints at the box office

http://money.cnn.com/2018/05/27/medi...ice/index.html

Only $101 million at the box office, making it "the smallest opening for a 'Star Wars' film since 2002."

Disney is slowly killing the franchise, partially because too many Star Wars movies are coming out and it all feels like a bad assembly line now.

How many Star Wars movies are there?
20? 30?

I only watched the first one all the way through.
It was a fun movie at the time, something new, for a kid.
But the second one was pretty much a WTH is this crap moment.
After that, I never looked at any of them.

Since every other movie that comes out these days seems to be one of the sci-fi/superhero/fantasy type, some "what, more of the same" reaction from audiences is inevitable.Bet Hollywood will take a second look at some of the future projects of this kind and start cutting back on a few rather than flood the market. These things aren't cheap to produce, either.

Greed is a killer...in more ways than one.

they need one every 2-3 years, not 2-3 every year

James Bond is still doing well.

There is no more mystery or surprise in Star Wars. The first movie "A New Hope" can stand alone as is. As 'primitive' as the special effects are in that movie, it had a good storyline. It was the characters that led the way, not computer graphics. Even the prequels did not have that same 'feel' as the original trilogy.

My favorite Star Wars moment was when Solo grabbed the golden idol and ran away from a huge ass boulder.

I've heard that scene was plagiarized from an early Scrooge McDuck comic book.

We enjoyed it in IMAX 3-D.

What I don't get is how dumb the scheduling was at the local theater.

If you want to watch the IMAX 3D version, the only time it was showing (opening week) was 10am or 10pm each day.

They've done this with the last 3 epic 3D movies. Absolutely no time flexibility.
