Here it is, in a nutshell: Millions of people are
pinning their hopes on a man who has every
chance of returning to the WH, assuming that

The media loves its USA-RACISM stories...so do some of the folks who post here...they'll dig them out of every corner, no matter how small...
And yet, these same people never seem to start threads about the atrocious treatment of Muslim women and Muslim homosexuals (not to mention non-Muslims like Christians and Jews) at the hands of other Muslims....lots of other Muslims in fact...not all Muslims of course...but a nice chunk.

The usual lefty sites are up in flames about this blatant racism, even thought there are no facts to go on other than the new mayor is black.
I don't have any personal knowledge of small town police operations, but a six man force in a town of 700 seems excessive. I'd guess most towns that size rely on the county sheriff for police services.
With the long time mayor and the major "city" officials and the cops all bailing out, and the city computers being wiped clean, sounds likely there was some nice cushy cronyism going on there, at a minimum.

There are, obviously, holes in the plot.
Still, it's interesting after all that has been going on in MO police forces lately.

Having come from a small town of about 1500 I can tell you the number of police they employ is always a hot political topic as is about every other city employee. Candidates for mayor and city council in my home town have been running on firing certain city employees since I was a kid. The cops may have just read the handwriting the wall. I'd like to point out in my home town, nobody runs for mayor or city council unless they have a "bee in their bonnet" over something. Everyone else knows the jobs come with major headaches and more than a few early morning phone calls over such things as a driveway being plowed shut by a snowplow.

Perhaps the new mayor is simply a piece of shit, his race having little or nothing to do with it.
May be a lot more than meets the eye...no pun intended.

I doubt that very much, plus the mayor-elect is female.
To me, it seems the overriding factor is that
the out-going mayor held that office for 37 years.
That, in itself, might shake up a small town staff pretty good.
The race and gender issues likely don't apply here,
but it makes you wonder why those police quit so fast.
