Has anyone bet with locals, just make a home OTB?

I'm getting sick of the OTBs I go to take an extra 2-5% out of the already raped pari-mutuel 17-25% takeout ...

Does anyone watch streaming races but actually place bets on their bookie's site? The only problem I might see with this is that the guy has weird rules (maxes, per race, per day, or nothing over 300-1 for example) that would make multi-race wagers or exotics a must at a track or OTB that is "official"

I love the idea of putting bets in that are gonna get track odds at least and if I hit, also no Uncle Sam getting ANOTHER 20-30%

Just wondering if anyone has thought of this, or does it.

OTBs have monopoly protection. That's why you don't see a different one on every block the way you do in London (or at least that's the way it used to be in London).

Where there is a monopoly there are high prices and poor service.

Here are some options:

1.) stop betting

2.) find an online service that offers rebates

3.) relocate to a friendlier jurisdiction

4.) find an illegal bookie

There are probably other options, but these are the first ones that come to mind.

You can start up a competing online OTB

Do you mean attending local bookmaking joints (who carry the races illegally)?
