Enable: Third Arc winner?

The daughter of Nathaniel and Concentric will be going for her third Arc next Saturday which will be her final start of her career. I hope she wins it.

Me too but isn’t the race on Sunday? I was planning on watching it.

Regardless, Enable has been a great horse and I was lucky enough to catch her in person at last years BC. Hope she comes home safe and has a great retirement; and maybe make some good babies. Really that’s all you can ask for outside of cashing tickets.

Yes it is. Sorry, I'm used to the big races being on Saturday like the KD and BCC.

I never got to see her in person but I'll never forget watching her live on television or seeing a mare like Winx race for her 4th Cox plate. I was at the gym at 1 am in the morning watching her as she took on Benbatl before her retirement.

True fan status when you are up late or early just to watch a race. I’ve been there myself. Thanks for the response, I would have hated to miss it

The UK Group 1 races do tend to be run on Saturdays except for racing festivals (e.g. Royal Ascot, Goodwood) when some will go during the week.

Ireland seems be kind of evenly split with Group 1s on Saturdays and Sundays.

France runs almost ALL of their Group I races on Sunday (major exception being Arc weekend with a few on Saturday - like our BC Friday, I guess)

So if you want to watch a Group I race with the word “Prix” in the title - you can probably expect to see it on a Sunday.

I saw her in person last breeders cup. Went down to the paddock. She was a magnificent specimen of a thoughbred. Well bred and fast.

She will make a fine broodmare.

How many great race mares have made great broodmares? Doesn't seem like there is a high correlation to me but I could be wrong.

Taking an admittedly quick look at the older female dirt and the turf Eclipse award winners since 2000, they don’t have a lot showing as broodmares. One or two multiple graded stakes winners, but didn’t see even 1 multiple Grade 1 winner.

Exciting stretch run today -sorry she missed, but nothing to be ashamed about in that performance.

When they hit the wire, I could almost hear Trevor saying "Ba-laaaame....."

Seems to me, great dirt mares are hit or miss. Great turf mares do better for whatever reason

The great Urban sea produced Galileo.

The great ouija board produced Australia.

Maybe not in 2019 but thankfully she is pointed toward the Arc in 2020.
