I'll preface this with I know nothing, however the Midwest trainer in NYRA (female trainer) sued them and quit claiming the paid her very little. It's kind of an open secret that people like Midwest and Calabrese don't pay the rate trainers get from owners on an open market. I'm not criticizing it. If you're sending a guy 30 horses you should get a volume discount. But people have claimed its a lot less money.

I just think at the end of the day Ness made a business decision. He's got other owners who will pay him more. Couple that with him not getting their best horses anymore he's really kind of became their 3rd or 4th string trainer the last 6-12 months.

A while ago it was reported that Midwest was reducing the number of horses sent to Ness as they thought he was overextended. Ness responded by picking up a few more owners. Perhaps Midwest didn't appreciate that.

They got this guy Danny "Mr 50 pct" Gargantuan training for them now.

Funny how every trainer they get turns into a hall of famer.

He's one of the trainers I focus on at Gulfstream, he's been very disappointing there.

they may also have gotten tired of hearing all the drugging issues associated with the guy. Anybody know how many positives he has had.

By my count, he has had 19 drug related violations. 2 of those were for having drugs in the barn without proper prescriptions, 17 were overages detected in post race samples.

Those 19 violations garnered a TOTAL of $9,300 in fines and a whopping 7 days suspension.

None of the overages were for anything exotic, they consisted of Methocarbamol (3), DMSO (2), Bute (6), Clenbuterol (2), Methylprednisolone (2), Triamcinolone Acetonide (2), and Acepromazine (1). [One violation was for two overages in the same sample]
