Peter Fonda's tweet wasn't as bad as Huckabee's; it was far worse. Mostly because it suggested several crimes, each more depraved and disgusting than the one before, but also because it was incredibly counter productive.
Fonda said that he was trying to get Melania to see how "Passionate" he was about the issue. What he got her to see was a threat to her child. She reacted as any mother faced with such a threat would.
My impression is that Melania Trump is trying to be a moderating voice with her husband in this manner. I don't know but it could be that she was influential in him issuing the Executive Order ending the practice. She has gone to visit some of the detention centers, apparently without asking his permission, and I do appreciate that.
As for you taking the foolish and repulsive tweet of a has been actor and private citizen and suggesting that it was a major plank in the Democratic
platform, that is a bit much.
