I don't find this kind of thing surprising, but some of the people he brought into his web of deceit is a little shocking.

I don't think a summary would do the story any justice.
This could definitely be made in to a movie or at least a CNBC: American Greed story.

I was waiting for someone to mention the CNBC show. This time the vehicle used to deceive was equine. Anytime there is rate of return, prestige or whatever there are people who will scheme a way to to take advantage & manipulate others for their gain.
As in Glenn Frey's Smuggler's Blues-

This game attracts all sorts of unsavory characters...and they operate on both sides of the fence. Anyone see the David Manet film "House of Games"? That's what these smooth-talking con men deserve in the end...IMO.
