Great point, teacher, just another very poor analogy.

Did you really mean to use the word critical?
Sems to read better without it.

If the only job you are qualified to do is flip burgers, you aren't worth much to begin with. Be thankful they let you in the place.

Even if some companies and owners want to pay their employees a fair, living wage, how do they survive when facing competition from companies that don't?
The only way to establish just wages is through negotiation between equals. In almost all cases this means negotiation between management and union represented workers.

The unions have caused many profitable businesses to close and put many workers in the street. Without government subsidy the post office is a great example.....man you really stepped in that one.

you got it all wrong ... it is Congress that keeps shipping fees depressed so that the USPS can not charge their true value.

Of course, you are right. USPS should have been the first Fedex... their interstructure was in place first, but the government got in the way.

What makes you think my ancestors were the wrong doers rather than those done wrong?
And I'm not advocating anything. I'm simply pointing out that it's a dog-eat-dog world and Darwin was right. Nothing will change that and I accept it.

What's hypocritical about social Darwinism? Those who get to the top do not get there by being nice guys. They get there by being ruthless.
And that will never change.

In business compartmentalization has its place, good habits are very common by the successful. Not one of those you would look up to today who has made it in business would be considered a nice guy or gal on the way up the ladder. Your point is moot, people make their money first and save the world second. Or a poor person never has employees. You can make a example of lets say Bernard Lawrence Madoff, but the vast majority of the successful have done it legally, ethically, and morally.
