Thanks Vinnie, very kind of you. Just got back and had to take a quick walk around the block after that cake. Probably going to jump into the last double on the card. Have a great weekend.

Taking a shot on #9 Panther Island in a stellar field in the Skakertown.
Currently 15-1

It seems like Fierceness could be even-money, or less, in a 20-horse field. Inconceivable. If he should fail to fire, it could be a life-changing score for the lucky few.

I can't wait for the Derby!! Can Fierceness do it on the front end like he did in the FL Derby? Maybe he can, but, I wouldn't count on it. He is going to have plenty of company on the front end with horses like Track Phantom, Dornoch and in all likelihood quite a number of others on his neck. For some reason, I don't see him cruising on the front end like I did say War Emblem in his Derby. This race is going to have some serious pace on. If he trains well up to the race, I am all over Sierra Leone in this one. I hope that Fierceness gets crushed at the windows. If he wires the field like he did in the FL Derby, I give him major props.

wow Sierra Leone is just built to gobble up ground. that long loping stride. i'm sure he and Fierceness will be the top two choices in the derby (if they both make the gate...fingers crossed). fascinating contrast in styles.

My only problem with that race is the Derby is a panel longer . Huge difference. Now you gotta carry your punch a little longer to make it stick. Which sometimes is a killer . The crowd will be exponentially louder and bigger . Chad Brown said the crowd may have even been part of the problem and the outside post . So the draw may matter for him . The pace was somewhat quick and the track was fast there from all appearances. He was definitely best that day but a jerky start in a 20 horse field usually kills the winning position unless you get a duel . Which could happen . And I don’t see where people think that chalk needs the lead . He rates kindly in his good races and that last race was like a seasoned pro among kids . Has racing experience under his belt. And some of the best wins to go to this race . Best resume. This race if it stands like it is today could be chalky . Of course , I play exactas so I’ll be looking to partner up some value . And I’m guessing those two won’t pay much coupled up. Looking for an outsider with a chance like I always do .

Sierra Leone made it look easy late. He didn't appear to be pressed at all. I firmly believe that the extra panel of 9 to 10 furlongs is only going to make him tougher and more dangerous yet. What a Big specimen of a horse. Of course, if Fierceness is able to run off and hide which I don't believe will transpire the entire point will be moot. It is going to get very interesting over the next four weeks. I could be wrong, but, I believe Luis Saez and the connections of Dornoch already made it clear that if they are running in the Derby they are going to pretty much gun it from the get-go and do all they can to reach the front and just see what happens from there.

I've been a huge Sierra Leone fan, but he has a habit of bearing in during the stretch run. That could get him into trouble in a huge field. I don't know if it's greenness or his stride. The left front moves out.
