E-GPS

Does anyone have a list or know of a list of tracks that are using E-GPS for their charts?

Trakus is completely shut down.

All NYRA Tracks (Aqueduct/Belmont Park/Saratoga)
Del Mar?
Canterbury Park
Churchill Downs/Ellis Park
Fair Grounds?
Golden Gate
Gulfstream Park
Horseshoe Indianapolis
Laurel Park/Pimlico
Lone Star Park
Lousiana Downs
Monmouth/Meadowlands
Oaklawn Park
Santa Anita
Tampa Bay
Turfway Park?
Woodbine

Those are the ones I have down; There might be a few missing still
The ? are the ones where I am not 100% sure if they do GPS or not just have the name down

Hope that helps pandy!

Not all of these are using the timing.

Just looked up some of the technology behind this, 'tis wondrous strange'

https://www.thoroughbreddailynews.co...-horse-racing/

"... Hundreds of times a second, this wireless iPhone-shaped device takes an assortment of measurements to capture in minute detail the movement of the horse at high speed.

These measurements include the horse's acceleration and deceleration, the up and down concussive movement of the horse, and its medial-lateral motion–what is, in other words, the horse's movement from side to side.

I can tell you that Penn National beta tested the system for well over a year and ended up scraping the idea as the results were less than desireable.

Do you know if there's a comprehensive list of the tracks that are using it? And is there data available for the public, such as there was with Trakus?

I don't see why it wouldn't work. It should be more accurate than a human chart caller, I would think.

I don't know if there is a list, but I think all the ones that have GPS charts available are probably using them for charts at least.

Most of the GPS timing now includes portable beams for start to finish timing with fractions being straight GPS.

This is what I found in a Bloodhorse article that's two years old.

Equibase has GPS systems in place at Canterbury Park, Colonial Downs, Del Mar, Golden Gate Fields, Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course, Penn National Race Course, Kentucky Downs, Laurel Park, Monmouth Park, Oaklawn Park, Pimlico, Sam Houston Race Park, Tampa Bay Downs, and Woodbine.

Churchill, Turfway, Santa Anita and Ellis Park have it now too off the top of my head. Penn does not have it any longer and neither does Mahoning Valley I don't believe.

Of those on the list, I don't think the following are using GPS timing:

Churchill, Pimlico, Oaklawn, Monmouth, Santa Anita, Ellis Park.

I believe Golden Gate and Kentucky Downs are the only tracks still using full GPS, i.e. not using portable beams for final times.

It is not true the reason had anything to do with the results.

Every track using E-GPS will have a GPS chart column on the summary or full charts results pages, for example https://www.equibase.com/premium/eqb.../2023&ctry=USA

That's what I was looking for, thanks. So I assume that there is only one company that provides this service.
