Iowa Derby
What's next for Hansen.....Finger Lakes?
Talk about puling stunts in the dead of night.....I would be too embarrassed to run in this race in the light of day, too. I will my arse off i he loses. It will like losing a workout. The parade of great racing marches on.

Well, they "ducked" the big boys in the Wood and the Florida Derby. Might as well duck them here too. Black type is black type, but, I'm sure this won't affect his stud fee. At least he looked good. Next race, the West Virginia Derby.

They're gonna duck the Ohio Derby?
When is that anyway?
Horse got a nice confidence builder, though.

No, no, no! We're anxiously anticipating Hansen to ascend on Sun Ray Downs, N.M.

Well, as long as we're here, might as well play the night cap.

I think the real winner tonight was the Russian trainer Dorochenko taking advantage of the small fields.
I can see the phone call...
Dorochenko: I'm bringing down Hero of Order for your Derby.
Racing Secretary: Can you bring down a couple more? Whatever you've got in your barn will do.

Hansen is a fine racehorse and they are doing him an injustice if they keep him in these "minor league Graded Stks".
Shorten him up a little and point for the Dirt Mile on BrCup day.
The Amsterdam at 6.5f and the King's Bishop at 7f (both races at Sar) are good spots imo....then the Kelso at 1m during the Bel Fall Meet and on to the BrCup.
Hopefully the good Doc doesn't get in the way and insist that he try the Classic, where he has zero chance to win.

He got a nice work, a stakes credit and a confidence-builder, thought it was an okay place to put him.

For an easy check, yes I agree.
But don't come back later on and try to tell you have champion of something.
You don't.
And going back to the Zenyatta days, is anyone really going to call that a Graded Stake?

I know he won the Juvy but if I had this horse I'd be sending him on the Lost Code trail picking up decent purses along the way. I don't think he's top-tier, so the more chances I can take for $250k @ 1/9 the better. Then maybe take a shot once I salt away another $500k or $750k. The WVA Derby for $750k (!) makes a lot of sense.

A smart move. Got him back in the swing of things; added black type; and got a nice check for a workout. Spotting him carefully will enhance his value at stud. What else should an owner do? Run him into the ground and prove he is not the best 3 yo in the country? I think Dr. Hansen is doing exactly the right thing with Hansen.
