Del Mar official winners' circle "unsaddler"?

I have noticed something at Del Mar the last two meets that I have not really noticed anywhere else (which doesn't mean it doesn't exist in other places).

There appears to be a Del Mar official who is responsible for unsaddling the winner and carrying the saddle away.

I am used to the jocks carrying their tack, many times a valet doing the unsaddling - but this is the same person all the time.

Looking to learn something new!

Santa Anita does it also, different person than DM.

The DM person also does the shakes for claims near the winners circle, or at least she did in the past.

Thanks - so it seems like this is a California racing official position. I could not find anything in the (currently much maligned) CHRB rules that described this responsibility when I was looking before I posted originally.

That position is generally referred to as Steward's Aide and is a racing official position employed by the track. There are other responsibilities too such as tagging test horses and claimed horses.
