COMPELLING new view of the FOUL

CJ posted this in two other threads, but this deserves its OWN thread.

For the doubters, WATCH THIS and then tell me this horse didn't deserve to be DQ'd.

Yes.

Like I stated elsewhere, in the midst of watching Max Security veering sharply in real time, War of Will-mostly unnoticeable in real time- actually strides between the back legs of Max twice.

Let's just imagine for a moment CH passed MS and this was disqualified to 17th. Would we be discussing it?

When your on the "best horse won and should never be dq'd" bandwagon there is no angle that will create a waiver in your opinion.

How did the stewards miss that and not post the inquiry sign?

What's the difference who started the inquiry?

It makes me question whether I should wager on a track that has 3 stewards that can miss that much of a foul.

A second or two before sharply drifted, it looks like was trying to bully his way past when already had position and the hole closed up quickly because was gaining on .

Because that’s how they stole a derby. Stewards probably didn’t miss anything they were going to let it stand thus the importance.

A 2nd best not interfered with horse threw a Hail Mary and was rewarded.

We all know this is what happened. We all should know there’s video of past derby’s or just regular horse races in which it’s a “no call”

Is everyone going to pretend outside speed going to rail never impedes a horse or this is called a majority of the time?

As predicted this manifests a problem the NFL faces weekly. Written rules can’t ever compete with video. However the NFL doesn’t retroactively change the result once the game is complete.

Horse racing can’t pause so yes the absence of Stewards Inquiry is very important in this derby.

To me looks like Prat tried and was successful this time what Johnnie V tried to do to Monarchos when he was aboard Invisible Ink. I’m letter of law video might support him.

is not innocent in the infraction probably why there wasn’t an objection from them, maybe.

When the jockey who was most impacted by the event said he wouldn't claim foul because he didn't finish 3rd or 4th, that is all that matters. He gets it and understands you don't screw people like that in this race.

If the stewards had thrown the inquiry sign, by all means than they can make a decision.

They didn't.

The results of the race should have stood.

If he waited 2 seconds he would have had a wide-open rail and a HUGE chance in the stretch run. But no, he decided to try and power his way past Toddy where there really was no opening and went into MS' blindspot, leaving the rail open for CoH to come through. It just happened a split second later that MS veered. If WoW wasn't there, Toddy would only have been brushed and WoW would be open on the rail, but that extra body caused more congestion.

What about the winner....#20...actually drifted in and caused a foul TOO...???

https://www.si.com/horse-racing/2019...ation-hangover

"One dissenting voice on the backstretch was another Hall of Famer trainer, five-time Derby winner Bob Baffert. During the race, Baffert stood in the saddling paddock, where he watched American Pharoah win the 2015 Derby and near the small room where he watched Justify win it a year ago. Baffert suggested that the Derby is just a different race from all others, and that everyday rules should not always apply. “No one ever calls an objection in the Derby,” Baffert told me Sunday afternoon, by text. “It’s always a roughly run race. Twenty-horse field. I have been wiped out numerous times, but that is the Derby. I can see by the book why they did it. But sometimes you’ve got to take your ass-kickings with dignity.”

https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-rac...ersonal-ensign

Much worse...by the way....have never stated it wasn't a foul...just won't bet on a sport that doesn't call CONSISTENTLY ....one way or THE other....

Also...I would BET that THE handle at Churchill drops way more than usual after this as the meet closes out...

He shouldn't have been there.

I watched it over and over, and I still disagree with the call. Even though almost all the people I work with (lifetime racing people) thought the call was warranted.
