I did a double take on the price! However, for the first time ever, I saw that Publix put a limit on the birds of 2 per household.

Loss leaders are great strategy in the grocery business.

And it works. I don't ever recall buying a holiday bird only and walking out with it. I always bought some other things while there.

Unfortunately, we have a "loss leader" in the WH.

.49 depending on what month it is. You do the math.
Steak (we cut our own meat) is up over .60 a pound. I buy about 35k lbs a year. Do the math.
Turkey prices increased 14% this year. But the real problem is getting them. My distributor is allocating a third less this year. I have had to source them from Walmart/Aldi/Sams club plus my normal distributor. All at higher prices. I have increased my price this year to $15.99 a meal on Turkey day. I am sure we will hear about it.
I serve about 2000 meals on Thanksgiving day. It’s a crap-load of Turkey. This is just the tip of the list of shortages. Huge supply chain problems everywhere. I ordered a 2k dollar carpet cleaning machine a month ago. They cannot find enough truck drivers to deliver it. They tell me that flat out on the phone.

i took 6 people to Capital Grill for Thanksgiving, with drinks and the tip i forked over $780. only 2 of us had a turkey dinner which ran $45 for 4 slices of white meat, stuffing, string beans, and some cranberry sauce. the other people had a stake or sea bass. and we had what they called a seafood tower (shrimp, lobster, and crab meat)

Probably the same as Thanksgiving…….at our other franchise locations.
We are one of the few GC’s that closes on Xmas.
It costs me a chunk of change, but my employees are very happy about it.
