No one wanted to listen to the fact that shooting in HD was going to do nothing if the providers weren't HD. Well, everyone that wanted an HD signal has it now.
Are there any providers that broadcast NYRA in HD ? I have Cablevision

and nothing has changed. I'll give them a call, but I'm pretty sure nothing will happen.

Not sure, though there must be some. Wish I could remember the direct quote they gave concerning how many of their distributors had HD capability but I remember the percentage being very low. At that time they said they planned to hold off for a couple years since it would be a considerable expense, but then the board and fans both started clamoring for it. Maybe NYRA Network will eventually be HD capable, but that would cost a lot more money as well.

Ok...You must admit though there are plenty of NYRA bashers on this board.

Correct. HD cameras are quite pricey.
Also, digital broadcasts take up 5 times the amount of bandwidth required for analog. Since the single tv channel in the US is 6Mhz, that additional, the additional data contained in HDTV signals must be compressed to fit in that bandwidth. That process is from where the additional cost comes.
Over the air transmitter would have to be upgraded to higher power output. As would satellite uplinks.
Eventually. as C-band satellites die and are not being replaced there will be no outlet for analog transmissions.

The aspect ratio problem is fixed. Would be great for FIOS to somehow get the HD going. Its broadcast on the old NYC otb channel so it would have to be upgraded.

I have an HD set at home, and I have no use for it at all. I think HD sucks.
You sound like my wife. I bought an hd set and she made me move it because she prefers our old standard tv. I don't understand it as I think hd is a big improvement (as long as the tv and signal are hd).

Back on topic. Keeneland is the only track I know of streaming in hd. It would be nice if Nyra would consider that as well. I would pay for it to stream to my hdtv.

Preferring SD to HD?, recommend trying to buy an old black and white set on Ebay, you might like that even better.

So today, no Thoroughbred Action TV show - no 30 Minutes opening day - not sure about the week end...what's up with NYRA TV shows?

And the most recent National Racing Report I see on nyra.com is from April 17. Will there be a show this week covering the Derby field and picks?

We expect to tape two shows on Friday, one for the KY Oaks that will air at 9:30 on the NYRA Network, and one for the Derby card that will air late that night, and at 9:30 Saturday morning. Both will be available on nyra.com.
