Longshots at Churchill Downs 5/25

Saturday was longshot day at Churchill Downs.

Race #2 - Dowooper $55.40
Race #7 - Blingboy $134.80
Race #8 - Live In Joy $34.60
Race #9 - Tiz Now My Choice $28.40
Race #11 - Booster Rocket $46.60

This was on a Fast track and Firm Turf. Has anyone ever seen prices like this before at CD or any other track? Did not play it Sat. And glad I didn't.

Isn't that the kind of day you want to play? You only need to get it right once!

Those are usually Get-Away Day prices at Churchill.

I can't say whether all of those horses were overlays (I haven't seen the past performances), but I would tend to think that they would have been overlooked by players who were focusing solely on selecting and betting the one horse that they thought was most likely to win (to the exclusion of all other horses in the race), rather than assessing the winning chances of each horse in the field and comparing those chances with the horses' odds in order to find value.

I have read in several places that Churchill has become the home of longshots and almost an unplayable track, based on the activities of a disingenous gate crew?
