First Footage From Michael Mann’s HBO Horse-Racing Show ‘Luck’

More than anything else, what excites me here is Dustin Hoffman. He’s playing a mob figure/e-con/gambler of some kind, and we haven’t seen him looking quite this fierce in a long time. Nick Nolte looks great, and the brief look at Richard Kind makes it seem that he’s playing a very different character than we’re used to. We’ll have to wait to get more than tiny glimpses of the rest of the cast, which includes Dennis Farina as Dustin Hoffman’s associate, John Ortiz as a horse trainer, and Joan Allen, Ian Hart, Kevin Dunn, Kerry Condon, Tom Payne and Patrick J. Adams.

Finally, something to put a little sexy allure into racing rather than the usual nerds & dullards.
With writing from Milch & 'the look' from Mann, this may very well draw a new crowd. Until they figure out how screwed-up the game is.

We don't need any more Mafiosos. I write scripts and I will never use any Mafia characters in them. It's an insult. Any way they quit because it stinks, the Jocks couldn't throw a race if they tried. They can lose it. But why? If they get a favorite to tank, it's damn hard to get anything else, anyway. They quit and they were cruddy gamblers anyway. Organized Crime? They just have it to liven things up. Please, this is dramatic license. We have to understand this. The show looks good though

They have two more episodes to film...then we all wait, holding our breath, for it to air!!
Nolte should be absolutley fantastic in this part...
