Book

One of the all-time greatest racing books for the handicapper available.

Consistent Handicapping Profits. By E.W. Donaldson written in 1936. This book sold on Amazon for $1,000.00!!!!. A close friend of mine whose father just passed away at the age of 101 was an avid horseplayer and we were looking thru his racing material and found the book that many a horseplayer wants to get his hands on. Barry Meadow wrote a brief synopsis on the book and was also previewed by Jerry Brown of Thorograph. Well, my buddy has made this book into an E-Book which he is letting me sell. for pricing drop me a line here or at robertj1949@gmail.com

On the subject of this book, I will share something I discovered for those who are really interested or became super-infatuated with finding a hard copy, as I did several years ago, with no luck:

There was a book put out in 1937 called "How To Select Winning Horses", by Montee Publishing, which appears to essentially be a reissue of "Consistent Handicapping Profits". I can't say that for sure (not having literally compared the two side-by-side), but it certainly appears to contain all of the same information, based on what I know and have seen of each (I do own a copy of "How to Select Winning Horses" and I have seen exerpts and read Jerry Brown's review of "Consistent Handicapping Profits".) All the charts, graphs, discussion of speed figures and variants, wind adjustments, ground loss, etc. etc. are in there. E.W. Donaldson is listed as one of the writers, so it's probably a good substitute for "Consistent Handicapping Profits" if you're looking for a hard copy and don't feel like paying $1,000 for it.

I forget what I paid for it about a decade ago, but it was pretty short money if I recall, and certainly nothing on the level of $1,000.

All that said, it's nice you're offering a soft copy of the original, that's really cool. I definitely would have gone that route during my obsessively frustrating time trying to find the book back in the day - it would have saved me a lot of headache!

E-book

The book u are talking about is a fine book, but nowhere as involved as the one I am selling in E-Book style. This Author was way ahead of his time especially with the chapters on ground loss and deceleration. got me some nice priced winner at Tampa and Gulfstream this past weekend.

I actually have this book, might have to try the Amazon route!

Is there a way to see the past sale on Amazon?

What about copyright? In the U.S. anything published after 18 Jan 1926 could still be in copyright (but not necessarily). Laws in other countries tend to be similar.

How Long Does Copyright Protection Last?
How long does a copyright last?
The term of copyright for a particular work depends on several factors, including whether it has been published, and, if so, the date of first publication. As a general rule, for works created after January 1, 1978, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. For an anonymous work, a pseudonymous work, or a work made for hire, the copyright endures for a term of 95 years from the year of its first publication or a term of 120 years from the year of its creation, whichever expires first. For works first published prior to 1978, the term will vary depending on several factors. To determine the length of copyright protection for a particular work, consult chapter 3 of the Copyright Act (title 17 of the United States Code). More information on the term of copyright can be found in Circular 15a, Duration of Copyright, and Circular 1, Copyright Basics.

i think this book is available for a reasonable price, if this link is the book you are talking about. i don't know if i am allowed to provide this link on p,a,'s web site, but i have no relations financially or personally with the people or person behind the ad. but p.a. can delete this link if he sees it as a violation of his policies.

And it's selling well to PA members--yet you won't donate the price of even 1 sale to the website, in return for advertising?

Pretty lame, dude
