Derby TV Ratings

I find it odd that the Derby draws so little interest west of Louisville.
Top markets for NBC's Kentucky Derby telecast were: Louisville 39.0/65; Ft. Myers 21.3/39; Cincinnati 18.8/37; Buffalo 17.9/31; Knoxville 17.0/28;*Dayton 16.2/29; Pittsburgh 15.5/30; Cleveland 15.1/29; Richmond 15.0/29; and West Palm Beach 14.8/27.

Imagine if all the fans that are at the tracks around the world were home watching the derby ratings would rival the super bowl

Nonsense. These figures represent cities west of Louisville.
Obviously, comparing any region, east or west of Kentucky, especially in Louisville, where the Derby is sacred, will always show Louisville ratings higher there than anywhere else. Let's keep the BS eastern bashing out of this.

It will be interesting to compare the numbers for Preakness to Derby, being you can watch on TVG, a multitude of ON-line sites, and NBC. Shows the class of Stronach and NYRA, good for the sport!!!
