The Golden Slipper PPs

Golden Slipper Stakes 2020

Golden Slipper Stakes Form Guide (PPs)

The Golden Slipper Stakes is the richest race for two-year-olds in not only Australia but the world and highlights the early Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival action at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse each March.

Offering a lucrative $3.5 million in total prize money including $2 million to the Golden Slipper winner, the 1200m sprint for juveniles is run at set weights. Colts and geldings in the Golden Slipper Stakes field carry 56.5kg while the fillies taking on the boys in the classic carry 54.5kg.

Love the Cinderella . . .

Hanseatic to win the Slipper!

Cellsabeel to win the Slipper (longshot; filly).

~

Hanseatic finished a close second behind Tagaloa in the Blue Diamond Stakes and he has been freshened-up for the Golden Slipper since that run. The fact that he started the Blue Diamond Stakes as a clear favourite does show his ability and he lost no admirers with what was a strong performance. I like the fact that Anthony Freedman has given him a barrier trial in between his race starts and barrier nine gives Kerrin McEvoy plenty of options. The Street Boss colt represents genuine value at his current Golden Slipper odds.

Cellsabeel is one of the most interesting runners in the Golden Slipper field. She went to the top of Golden Slipper betting when she bolted in to win at Rosehill Gardens in the Iron Jack Handicap, but she hasn’t been able to replicate that effort in either the Silver Slipper Stakes or the Black Opal. In saying that, she had a very tough run in the Black Opal and was still able to keep finding the line. There is no doubt that the talent is there and she is not the worst $21 chance I’ve ever seen.
