Talked to the president of the track many times about this....she said they go all turf because it costs less to maintain the grass then to have to groom a dirt track with machines and whatnot
Another thing that goes on is Philly park brings the starting gate house jockey silks and tv /graphics crew.....
Gonna be a great 6 days

Grandstand not really as bad as people make it out to be....some broken windows on facing and crumbling bricks and cracked apron and I guess a rusted out roof
Inside is old but spotless....on the Sunday they raced last year I snuck in a upstairs room by the dining room I can across some really nice paintings....
I have tons of pics I can share but only have my iPhone does anybody know how to post pics?

May I respectfully disagree. The place is a dump. I will still show up one day but it is quite run down.
It does have its charm during the short meet, it is nice to see young people at the track. Food is reasonably priced plus Hooter's girls pouring beer.

No wonder I was late on opening day last year, I was stuck behind the damn starting gate on the AC expressway
I left after 3 races, they could do a better job with the place despite the 6 day meet. There was 10k people there that day and it was a great feel but you still get the rundown feeling of the joint. They can spruce it up or cover the tote boards better IMO
But Parx racing wont spend money to do that given they race only 6 days out of the year. There is no reason why AC racing can't become an early spring for 4-6 week meet before MTH opens.

For some reason I was there betting simulcast when I live 4 minutes from harrahs and they were getting the backyard ready putting mulch in the walking ring, flowers didn't go on the apron being it was blocked off but saw the head on of the stretch going in side entrance and turf course look great!!!
Being that most horses racing aren't exactly turf monsters I'm leaning on throwing out top 2 choices and going the next 6 over the next 8.....
Example 345678/3456789,10 looking for some bombers
And every year I see they horse racing strong on turf at Gulfstream ship in here at 3/5 and get beat every time.....
I seen countless exactas come back 450-700

There's not much money in the pools, right? I don't think there is much simulcast money.

If I had to guess the pools will be smallest on the fri sat....I know that makes zero sense but I think the pools will have there best day on 4/30 which is a Tuesday with not many tracks going that will get there biggest handle in my option:...
The Pools on sat and sun will be basically on track handle with people there cutting the grass instead of betting...And there really won't be many tv screens with the ac feed on over the weekend with all the tracks racing at off track locations....
And just like every year you will read the press articles about the local crowd wanting more racing but this is coming from the same people that abandoned going to the track back when track was on verge of going down the drain....
In my opinion the track next week should be off limits to the people bringing there kids and just taking up space in the building and out on the apron....nobody needs there $4 handle for the day being drunk and getting loud
The older crowd and myself that go there for simulcasting instead of putting money through the casino simulcasts are the reason they have the 6 day stand
So if people wanna see fake racing fans head out to acrc next week and you will see fake in a nutshell.....the 12 year old kids that ask there parents why they only race 6 days and this racing is pretty cool there parents can tell them that 12 years ago they didn't appreciate the racing!!!!
Rant over....see you guys there next weekend...
If anybody can share a way how to post pix on iPhone on this forum please tell me id love to post pix of the meet last year and I'll post for this year
