Browser help

I am a firefox user. I recently upgraded to a newer version and ever since i did my computer has been running real slow when i scroll up and down. The computer really lags. I did the same with Netscape and also have the same problem with it. Any suggestions?

Firefox pages runs faster by allowing multiple connections so it can download more than one file at a time. It’s only useful for broadband users, so if you’re still on dial-up you can just skip this one for now.

Here’s something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages MUCH faster now!

Prior postings is all good stuff.

Try this too: select Tools then Options and on the Options window select the Advanced tab then toggle "Use smooth scrolling" to see if that makes it better or worse.

More info about FF about:config settings here.

Mack and all,

There is an extension that will make these adjustments a little less intimidating for the average user.

Red,

The 2.0.0* is technical talk that means any version of FF in the 2.0.0.x series which includes 2.0.0.5.

I'm sure you think you understand what you thought I said but what you must realize is that what you heard is not what I meant.
