Easy to answer!
Well, not sure about win %, but on ROI, that'd be my girlfriend. She has a really strange ratings method. "PN ratings" she calls them. Asked her what that stood for & she replied, "pretty names of course!"
She came out in the top few (after having touched the very top) in a judged on profit - nation wide tournament. Although she just missed 3rd prize in the finish, she won the prize for "longest priced winner."
Cheers

Best Handicapper!
KofK,
In my opinion, one of the best percentage handicappers in the nation is Gordon Jones. He was a top newspaper handicapper on the West Coast, several years ago(documented) and is now presently representing Sam's Town in Las Vegas. He posts his picks on a board at Sam's Town for all to see. He has conducted seminars at the California Fair tracks. Gordon has an 800 line where you can purchase his picks on a daily basis. Although many of his winning selections are odds on, he does have an occasional blockbuster trifecta and/or pick 3. I met him personally at Sam's Town earlier this year and he is a fine person as well as a top handicapper!
Max
P.S. He has written a book called "Gordon Jones To Win"

Maxspa,
Do you know if Jones is going to write another book? Several years back he talked about writing one about how some tracks are much easier to beat than others. "Easy Pickings" was the term he used for the best tracks. The list he had at the time generally agreed with my opinion on the subject but I was hoping to see some more detailed studies.
In the seminars I saw, he selected horses in several different categories all the way from high percentage plays to longshots. Some of his longshots matched my own selections to I was generally favorably impressed. It would be interesting to keep track of his publicly posted selections now and see how they do. I wonder if anyone in Vegas has done that.
The interesting thing about the casino race books is now that most of them have gone parimutuel, they actually have an incentive to help players win in order to increase their handle.

Rick,
I'm not sure if he wrote the book, but there is an audio tape called "Easy Pickings" by Jones. It is available through RPM (handicappingedge.com)

Gordon Jones - New Book?
Rick,
I'm going out to Vegas in October and will ask Gordon if he intends to write another book. I have "Gordon Jones To Win"and when I was at Sam's Town he signed my copy. I believe he keeps track of his Easy Pickings seminar selections and usually he makes a profit over the long haul.

Maxspa,
Thanks, I'd really appreciate that. If you can find out what the win % and ROI are on his various types of selections it would be be interesting and perhaps provide some insight on what levels are attainable. I don't recall anyone else posting their picks publicly, especially those who people seem to religiously follow.

I was offered the opportunity (by Gordon) to do a seminar with him at the Fairplex OTB in So.Cal. The reason he has moved his tack to So.Cal during the week is to work in earnest on his book. I enjoy every time Gordon and I get together. He still posts his selcetions for all to see and his menu does very from the odds on play to the longshot. I may see him next week in Reno at the Tournament I am hosting. He is entered. I will get an update.

Steve,
Glad to hear that. There are a lot of us who would be interested in seeing how his techniques have changed over the years.

Gordon Jones Radio Show!
Rick,
Gordon Jones has a radio show that is interesting, informative and will give you an idea of the talent he has for picking winners! Gordon along with Patrick McQuiggan, and sometimes an east coast handicapper will give their picks on handicappers' corner. They keep score and this will give you an idea of the expertise on board. More importantly, the main part of the program deals with pertinent, up-to-date racing issues.
The radio program is easily accessed at 10:30 est by using the following url: www. samstown.com.
