Del Mar Watering Schedule
Good God almighty, it sure seems to be top secret. The last watering schedule I find at their website is from 2010.
Sure would like to know for sure what it is before attempting tomorrow's Pick 6 mandatory payout. I saw one individual on another site say that it was only before the 1st and the 4th, but that last one seems kinda early to me.
Much appreciated if anyone has this.

You base your PK-6 strategy on a track's watering schedule?
I have to say that this one is well down the list of my handicapping factors......

I think the idea is that if they water before the first leg of the pick 6, you single a speed horse as speed is supposed to carry better if the track has some moisture in it.
I think that in the 20 minutes that they water the track to post time for any particular race, that water pretty much dries up, especially later in the day.
Del Mar is wild right now as far as longshots go, seems like every super or pick 3 pays in the thousands, if you toss out your DRF and just bet quick picks, you might be better off.

There was a time when tides were a consideration in how the main track might play at Del Mar.
I haven't heard much about that since the poly went in.

I know its not in the Pick 6 sequence but what about Da Ruler in the 1st.If this horse isn't damaged goods I don't know what is.If he runs his race he should win by 25.

Tides...Moon cycle...Menstrual sequencing... Are they all looking for the stud at the same time? Could get crazy during waxing. But probably doesn't apply in September.

You guys laugh it up. Del Mar is Del Mar. It's a beast from another planet, and harder than a vampire/werewolf/zombie hybrid to take down.
Here's a link that explains it a bit: http://www.gradeoneracing.com/trackbias.htm
And yeah, it's been a longshot freakshow pretty much every day lately. There's a bit of an obvious general pattern -- especially the first half of the day -- if you look at it.

A 59-3/5 bullet work on the 18th doesn't look all that damaged to me. Might have had a minor injury and this is basically a workout. Give the horse an easy one & build his confidence, maybe?
It's Baffert, and it's a speed horse on the inside in the 1st race of the day. Ignore him at your peril.

Seems logical to me that watering could affect the next race - we all know the poly reacts tot he hot sun, so water would cool it off, even if briefly.
I'd check it out before I dismissed it.

Mother nature may, JUST may actually pay Delmar a visit today...they'll just have a DIFFERENT water schedule...
How quick do they take off the turf there?
And what are THEIR rules concerning p/4's/p/6's...surface changes & scratches?

that was true, today the humidity and temperature have more to do with how a synthetic track will play.
years ago when Sulfolk was the only track i ever played i would go to the ocean only a block away before i went to the track and watched the tide and played accordingly. i used to chart low tide and high tide horses, if a speed horse got the lead on a low tide day and gave it up, i would take note and bet the horse back when they ran on a high tide day.. track varients were always different depending on the tide.

He romped with little effort in a 40kOC and now drops to a 10k-9k open claimer. Why would he need a confidence builder?I'm not saying ignore him but good luck to whoever claims him. There is obviously something very wrong with this horse.

What about tsunamis?
I was under the impression track maintenance was weather dependent, and on the whim of maintenance supervisor --
