Beginning of the end for AZ racing?

Doesn't come as a shock. The residue of treating customers with disrespect. If they close, I'll miss my weekly visits & friends but will understand completely. If you don't change with consumer needs, you'll eventually fall by the wayside.

A lot of top-notch employees will reap the harsh reality of an industry that is slowly but surely imploding. Hopefully the Governor will step up with at least a temporary solution.

Be Well,

If Turf Paradise needs more money...why don't they increase their current 20% win-takeout to 25%?

Having spent the last two years there and working at the tracks I am not surprised. Got to know the commission pretty well and knew about the funding problems. If they can somehow get the whole ADW thing figured out, that would be a step in the right direction.

I had no issues, just x out the pop window and "enjoy articles for the next 30 days".

Thanks, CJ.

Apparently I had read down below before the pop up came up and the "x" was gone. Would not allow me to scroll up.

Tried again and did as you suggested.

As for the article, sad state of affairs.

Par for the course with this state, its the one that put a 6 year jail sentence on making a wager over the internet.

I miss the days back in the early '80's, betting the ponies during the day at TuP, and betting the dogs after the sunset at Phoenix Greyhound Park.....Great times..

You add a couple hours of poker after the greyhounds and those memories get "Glory Days" playing in my mind. The really nice thing was NO INTERNET just some good old human interaction.

Why did a horseman push the budget change?

That's my takeaway from the article?

He wants the money taken back and put into the purses.

Don't know why each state needs a racing commission, can't one for the country do?
