Polar bear population to decline by a third by 2050: study
https://globalnews.ca/news/3112257/p....google.com%2F
Polar bear numbers could drop by a third by mid-century due to disappearing Arctic sea ice owing to climate change, a comprehensive new study has found.
The current global population of polar bears is estimated to be around 26,000. The bears use the ice as a platform to hunt seals, the fat-rich prey they depend on to get through the long Arctic winter.Researchers said there’s a 70 per cent chance the population will shrink by a third; there’s a chance, but a lower probability, the population could decline by 50 per cent by 2050.
The reseachers’ projections were made using statistical models and computer simulations, using 35 years of satellite data.

Their categories go like this...
1.Least concerned
2.Near threatened
3.Vulnerable
4.Endangered
5.Critically endangered
6.Extinct in the wild
7.Extinct
They were downgraded from being endangered to being vulnerable, certainly going in the right direction.

Polar Bears and Alligators have a lot in common. American Alligators were once on the endangered species list. Today, more than one million alligators can be found throughout Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia. Through a number of different conservation efforts, the American alligator thrives once again today. When you visit the Everglades, you will come face to face with the Everglades alligator – a thrilling and unforgettable experience.
Polar bears in some areas were severely over-hunted in the past when trophy hunters utilized light aircraft and large motorized vessels to go into the ice to catch bears in large numbers. The introduction of high-powered rifles and snowmobiles also increased the ability of local Native people to kill polar bears. Aerial and ship-based trophy hunting was banned by international agreement in the mid 1970s.
Because of conservation measures the alligators are no longer endangered. Since Conservation steps taken to protect the Polar Bears. the Bears have seen an estimated 10,000 in 1970 to 50,000. This was as of 2015.
It's likely that had climate change been in vogue in the 50's, the climate fear mongers would have blamed climate rather than over hunting for the dwindling Alligator population.
Not unlike the Alligator, trophy hunting was likely the cause of dwindling Polar Bear numbers. The years and the conservation numbers bear (pardon the pun) that out.
The same held true for the Florida Tarpon, it is not a good eating fish but it is big and puts up a hell of a fight. They were overfished and kept, but not until conservation was put into place did their numbers come back.
If only we had Al Gore back in the 50's and 1970. We'd of had a convenient scapegoat in climate change.
"Lots of snow in Massachusetts = climate change". "A mild winter in Massachusetts = climate change". "A rainy summer in Massachusetts = climate change". " Dry summer and drought in Massachusetts = climate change". " The riots in watts, you guessed it = climate change". ( I understand it was very hot) Yup, climate is always changing. Like Forrest Gump and his box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get.

Got a reliable source of your 1-7? You seem to editorialize quite a bit. But your facts are slim
You started off with
your incorrect IUCN statement...

I found just the opposite same source. And at least I provided a link.

https://polarbearsinternational.org/...d-polar-bears/
A study by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) predicts a dramatic reduction in polar bear habitats over the next 10 to 50 years, due largely to global warming.
The IUCN Polar Bear Specialist Group lists the polar bear as a vulnerable species, citing sea ice loss from climate change as the single biggest threat to their survival. The most recent study (Hamilton & Derocher, 2018)* estimates there are currently about 23,000 polar bears worldwide. But without action on climate change, we could see dramatic declines in polar bear numbers by mid-century.

Look you found sources, I found sources. They appear to be at odds. So wee can argue which is correct for quite a while. However you ignored my reality check to you.....

Researchers Warn Arctic Has Entered 'Unprecedented State' That Threatens Global Climate Stability
https://www.desmogblog.com/2019/04/0...mate-stability
A new research paper by American and European climate scientists focused on Arctic warming published Monday reveals that the “smoking gun” when it comes to changes in the world's northern polar region is rapidly warming air temperatures that are having — and will continue to have — massive and negative impacts across the globe.
The new paper — titled “Key Indicators of Arctic Climate Change: 1971–2017” — is the work of scientists at the International Arctic Research Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland in Copenhagen (GUES).
And...

Hunt Polar Bears in the Arctic North
These hunts are conducted from the community of Grise Fiord, which has a high harvest quota of Polar Bears.
Along with high success rates and good trophy quality, this 12 day hunt in the Arctic is sure to be one of your most memorable. Along with that, the Inuit culture itself is an unforgettable experience.
Hunting is still an important part of the lifestyle of the mostly Inuit population. Quota systems allow the villagers to supply many of their needs from populations of seals, walruses, narwhal and beluga whales, polar bears and musk oxen. Ecotourism is developing as people come to see the spectacular northern wildlife found on Ellesmere and surrounding islands.
In Grise Fiord there are two seasons: the "light" season from May to August, when the sun never sets, and the "dark" season from October to mid-February, when the sun never rises. For 10 months of the year, the sea around Grise Fiord is frozen;

So I post data from respected scientific non-commercial websites discussing the entire Arctic melting and glaziers disappearing and, you post a polar bear hunting, rather disturbing advertisement claiming their hunting is top notch
You can't be serious!

For all global warming believers and zealots such as hcap, zilzal, and others ...
... since climate change is the most existential threat to the survival of the world, you must believe serious action is needed right now, if not sooner. Agree? I'd say yes.
Many respected scientists have told us that the earth's two biggest polluters of our environment are China and India. Agree? I'd say yes.
Most of the Democrats running for President have promised to make global warming/climate change a major priority of their administration. Agree? I'd say yes.
Do you believe if a Democrat wins in 2020, he/she should declare war on both China and India since these two countries are the biggest threat to the survival of our world?
Would you support going to war over climate change?
