Had to work a little harder this time, but man, what a horse. Can't remember the last time she had to feel the tap of a whip. Just once last night.

I have no feel for Australian racing, what is a group 1 equal to say in the France or England?

Top of the line, otherwise known as a grade 1.

Interesting, did not realize that it was the same quality. I have seen some grass sprinters come over here and do ok but that was about it. I do remember a horse named Rough Habit who ran in the mid 90's on the turf.

i guess it depends.
supposedly our sprinters are best in world.
the longer distances i think are probably inferior to uk and ire and others.

i think (i don't follow now so may be wrong) most of the better long distance horses are imports.

but i suppose there are exceptions...'so you think' was australian bred and apparently did well in europe.

my own opinion is that there is far too many races given black type status, that don't fulfil the conditions they are supposed to, to maintain their status.

that's australia i am referring to here, but it is probably the same everywhere.

not that i care either way, but it's obvious to me that breeders run the show here, and it's why they want every race to be a stakes race, to make their second rate horses more valuable!!!

not sure if any of that applies to winx(and those she beats) as i don't take a lot of notice these days.

Yep I know. This gal is a complete freak. I mean she wins when she shouldn't, whether soft turf or bad breaks, and I have never seen anything like her. One more G1 win and she breaks Black Caviar's record which I always thought was unattainable.
