i haven't seen him on TVG for about a month so decided to google him up and discovered that he has some health issues.
just want to send him plenty of white light and wish him a speedy recovery and all the best.

I met Les at Los Al in early 2000 when Los al ran Harness racing. He was so friendly and just a great guy. Very engaging. I hope and pray everything is okay.

Hoping and praying for a speedy recovery from Les... he is a great handicapper and very knowledgeable about the quarter horses.
He and Kurt Hoover are my favorites on TVG, by a country mile.

Les is a wonderful person to have associated with our sport. Wishing him the best.
Years ago, I was at a bowling alley in Santa Clarita for a kids birthday party and unbeknownst to me there was an OTB is the place. All I saw was a big crowd. I walked over and saw that it was an OTB and asked why the crowd (It was a non-descript Sunday, IIRC). The answer was Les was making an appearance.

Get well soon Les.
I remember about 10 or so years ago I hit a nice pick six at the Los Al quarters and then won about 10 cards in a row there and it wasn't chump change either. During a TVG broadcast Les was referred to as Mr Los Alamitos, since I was on a long hot streak there and getting full of myself I declared that I was Mr Los Alamitos and Les was not fit to bring me beers. I did this in the privacy of my own home, I am obnoxious there and quiet in public. I either angered the racing gods or Les put a curse on me, I think I then went into the longest and worst Los Al slump of my life, I played every card there for the next month and a half and didn't have one winning night.
I learned my lesson about gloating.

So works for Los Al for 30 years, gets sick, and there was nothing insurance wise they could do?
Sad.
Best quarter horse handicapper I ever heard or came across.

I wasn't really into the quarter horses. Started watching the Quarters when I got TVG. Don't really know how to explain but something about Les. I just love to hear him talk. He puts so much into it. Such a great host and way about him.
Thoughts and Prayers for Les.

just saw this thread re-open. its nice to see that there are some very generous people in the racing game. when you think about it we are all a very special breed of people, some of us have bigger ego's than others. but when you boil it all down, we all have compassion and love in hearts towards everyone involved in this great sport.
